Adilabad: Months before the electioneering, the battleground has been set between ticket aspirants and BRS MLAs on nominations for the next election in erstwhile Adilabad district.

Aspirants say it is the high command that should nominate new faces and not field MLAs again. They added that any party member can aspire a ticket and talk about it, though the party may or may not give them the nod.

Johnson Naik, a ticket aspirant from Khanapur, differed with MLA Rekha Naik who stated that only she would get the party ticket in the elections. He said there was no such ‘self-declaration culture’ in the BRS.

Naik is said to be close to IT minister K.T. Rama Rao. He claimed he had Rama Rao’s support to make a political entry from Khanapur.

Similar differences cropped up among ticket aspirants and MLAs in Boath, Adilabad, Nirmal, Khanapur, and this has created several groups within the party in their respective Assembly constituencies.

Showing how serious the problem had become, in Boath Assembly constituency, two Athmeeya Sammelanams were conducted on the same day in the Boath mandal headquarters a few days ago.
