P P Mukundan to be back on BJP stage, finally
With two years to the next Lok Sabha elections, the BJP plans more such meetings to reach out to the masses.
Thiruvananthapuram: BJP's intellectual cell has invited state president Kummanam Rajasekharan's persona non grata P.P. Mukundan to their programme in Kochi Saturday with the blessings of the RSS. Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy and Lok Sabha MP Sakshi Maharaj are also attending the first public programme of the cell, headed by T. G. Mohandas, hitherto confined to the four walls of the BJP office in Kochi.
With two years to the next Lok Sabha elections, the BJP plans more such meetings to reach out to the masses. But a majority of top BJP leaders disagree. “Probably it is trying for a Hindu consolidation and wants to hog the limelight by bringing in Swamy and Maharaj who are famous for their vitriolic tongue,” a top leader said.
But the RSS is keen on bringing back Mr Mukundan to the party fold. It is not yet confirmed whether Kummanam would be attending the programme. Efforts are also on to bring back those BJP and RSS leaders who had distanced from the organisation years ago in the run-up to the elections. Mr Mohandas told DC that the BJP vetted every programme of the cell.
