Middle class to get plots from Ugadi
Nearly 3 lakh plots will be given by next year Ugadi
VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has announced that the government will provide housing plots at affordable prices the middle class people from the Telugu New Year Ugadi. He said nearly 3 lakh people would benefit from the scheme. He further announced that the Amul-AP project would be launched in West Godavari district on June 31.
The Chief Minister said that under the first phase of housing for middle classes, the government would provide 3 lakh housing units in urban areas by Ugadi next year (April 2). He assured that they would be provided with dispute-free plot registration. The project requires 17,000 acres of land, which has to be obtained by acquisition of public and private lands. The housing units will be given in three categories: 133.33 yards, 146.66 yards and 194.44 yards. All infrastructure facilities would be provided by the government, he assured.
Jagan Mohan Reddy said the Amul milk collection in the state would commence on May 31 from West Godavari district. Jagananna Thodu (interest-free loan for small traders) would be rolled out on June 8, YSR Vahana Mitra on June 15 and YSR Cheyutha (Assistance for women above 45 years) on June 22.
The CM said that under the NREGS 20 crore work days were allotted to Andhra Pradesh and the government set a target of completing 16 crore work days by the end of next month. To achieve the target, every district must complete one crore work days, he said and added that only 7.41 crore work days were completed till now and the officials should step up to meet the targets by the end of June.
Speaking of the education sector in the state, he said that Anganwadi centers were being converted into YSR Pre Primary Schools and land needed to be identified at 1,230 locations in urban areas and at 375 locations in rural areas for the construction of buildings. He said the state government was constructing 8,634 new buildings and revamping 3,341 existing buildings in the first phase of ‘Nadu-Nedu.’ Another 3,928 unfinished Anganwadi Centers would be completed. He directed the Collectors to sanction technical and administrative approvals, by coordinating with the Panchayat Raj department officials.
On the medical infrastructure in the state, Jagan Mohan Reddy said a total of 541 urban clinics are required in the state, of which 195 buildings are to be developed. As many as 205 clinics are being revamped, while 346 new buildings are yet to be constructed. Although a total of 375 clinics received construction permits, only 196 buildings have been started. He told the officials to ensure that works start as soon as possible.
The government also proposes to set up 16 new teaching hospitals in the state, and land has been already allocated to Pulivendula and Paderu hospitals. “We are going to unveil the plaques for the remaining 14 teaching hospitals on May 30,” he informed.
