Congress hails arrest of Raja Singh under PD Act
The affidavit filed by Raja Singh during the 2018 Assembly polls shows that 43 criminal cases are pending against him
Hyderabad: Welcoming the arrest of Goshamahal MLA T. Raja Singh under the PD Act, Congress Lok Sabha member N. Uttam Kumar Reddy demanded his expulsion from the Assembly. The former TPCC chief described Raja Singh as a “habitual offender.”
"The affidavit filed by him during the 2018 Assembly elections shows that 43 criminal cases are pending against him, including 15 related to hate speech. It is shameful that the police did not file a charge-sheet against him in 28 of the 43 cases. This exposes the state government’s soft-corner for Raja Singh," Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged in a media statement here on Thursday.
TPCC minorities wing chairman Shaik Abdullah Sohail said, “The police failed to react until thousands of youth held protests.”
Former chairman of Hyderabad Congress minorities department Sameer Waliullah strongly condemned the police crackdown on the protestors who were demanding Raja Singh’s arrest.
"The TRS government has surpassed even BJP governments when it comes to brutality against Muslims. The videos that have gone viral clearly show innocent Muslim youth being thrashed mercilessly," he said in a media release.
