Hyderabad: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday hit home hard his party’s agenda, saying Hyderabad would be renamed Bhagyanagar and Mahbubnagar as Palamuru, if the BJP comes to power in the state. Among other key promises were the removal of reservations for Muslims and free trips to the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Taking a jibe at Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, he said Rao “changed his party name to BRS as he was seeking VRS” — a play on ‘pa’ and ‘ba’ being used interchangeably phonetically in some Indian languages.

Addressing roadshows in Mahbubnagar, Kalwakurthy, LB Nagar and Quthbullapur, he said: “When someone is granted full time leave, then he is given ‘BRS (VRS)’. Similarly, KCR should be given full time leave and this is the reason the party’s name has become BRS.”

Mentioning that Sunday was Constitution Day or ‘Samvidhan Divas’, he said the BJP government, if voted to power, would do away with reservation for Muslims, terming it unconstitutional. “Reservation for Muslims is against the Constitution and an insult to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar,” he said.

“The BRS, by announcing reservation for Muslims, robbed the rights of people from scheduled castes and backward classes. Once the Muslim quota is scrapped, it will be shared among SC and BC communities,” he said.

He alleged that the BRS and the Congress had a common friend in the AIMIM.

Continuing his attack on the Congress, he said on the anniversary of the 26/11 attacks that the incident took place when the Congress was in power. “Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's administration, no one dares to attempt such an attack and our borders are safe,” he said.

He said that Modi, as Prime Minister, was being welcomed worldwide with utmost respect. “In the new Bharat, terrorists cannot intrude. This new Bharat retaliates powerfully when provoked,” he said.

Pointing to a picture of Chhatrapati Shivaji, held by an activist at LB Nagar, he said that the Maratha emperor had warned the Nizam of dire consequences.

He said that the Telangana state was abundantly blessed by nature but was a victim of corruption, dynastic politics and the politics of appeasement. “Telangana, which was a surplus state, has a '3 lakh crore debt,” Adityanath said, accusing the BRS government of corruption.

He said that corrupt practices reigned in Uttar Pradesh too under the Congress government. “Under the Congress regime, the situation was the same but things changed when bulldozers came into the picture. A similar tactic will be adopted to end corruption in Telangana,” he said.

At each venue, Adityanath made it a point to tell the audience that the BJP, if elected, would take them to the “Pran Pratishtha ceremony of Lord Rama at the Ram mandir on January 22 and special trains would be arranged for the same.”
