KAKINADA: All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) on Thursday passed a resolution demanding that union government implement its promises under the AP Reorganisation Act and declare Special Category Status (SCS) for Andhra Pradesh.

The resolution on AP was among the several passed at conclusion of the two-day state general body meeting of the Forward Bloc, presided over by its state vice president Lanka Krishna Murthy. The resolutions had been introduced by AIFB state secretary I. Suryanarayana.

The Forward Bloc underlined that the issue of Amaravati as capital of Andhra Pradesh must be resolved as per the decision of Supreme Court.

Through other resolutions, AIFB demanded that union government withdraw the four labour codes, as they harm the rights of workers. Likewise, Forest Laws too must be nullified, as they undermine Adivasis’ rights over forest produce.

Participating as chief guest at the meeting, former Lok Sabha member Devabratha Biswas called on everyone to take inspiration from late freedom fighter Madduri Annapurnaiah, who had been jailed for 14 years during the freedom movement. He had been the first president of the AIFB Andhra Pradesh chapter.

AIFB leaders Ch. Venugopal, Sayyed Salar and Pentapati Chandrasekhar were among those present.
