Ayukta probing MLC diary: Shobha Karandlaje
The state BJP general secretary said that IT authorities had written to the Lokayukta to file a request as per rule.
Bengaluru: Giving a new twist to the Congress MLC K. Govindaraju diary issue, state BJP general secretary Shobha Karandlaje on Sunday said that the Lokayukta is probing the matter.
Speaking at a function organised by the Art and Cultural Cell of the state BJP here, Ms Karandlaje disclosed that based on a private complaint filed on December 20, 2016, the Registrar of the Lokayukta wrote to the Income Tax authorities on December 26 to provide details from the seized diary for an inquiry by the premier anti-corruption agency.
“The IT authorities had written to the Lokayukta to file a request as per rule. I have authentic information from credible sources that the Lokayukta, after receiving the diary contents, is probing the matter,” she claimed.
She said Mr Govindaraju himself had admitted to the existence of the diary containing incriminating details by writing to the IT authorities seeking information whether the contents of the diary seized from his residence had been shared with State BJP chief B.S. Yeddyurappa and others.
“This is nothing but inadvertent admission of the existence of the diary,” Ms Karandlaje claimed. She described as "ridiculous" the statement of Mr Govindaraju that somebody might have kept the diary in his house.
