MP M Veerappa Moily keen on Chikkaballapura seat again
Chikkaballapura is one among the few constituencies which both JD(S) and Congress are eyeing.
Mangaluru: While the coalition partners JD(S) and Congress are still discussing the seat sharing formula for the LS polls in the state, senior Congress leader and Chikkaballapura MP M. Veerappa Moily has declared his intention to contest from the constituency.
Chikkaballapura is one among the few constituencies which both JD(S) and Congress are eyeing. Though sitting MP Moily is from the Congress, JD(S) leaders too are eager to contest from here as the constituency is one of the strongholds of the party. Mr Moily who was in Mangaluru to participate in a programme on Tuesday, declared that he would be contesting from Chikkaballapura for a third time. "We have won twice and I will be contesting a third time. We have worked for the people and they have faith in us ," said the former Union minister while expressing confidence of a victory.
Mr Moily admitted that the JD(S) too wanted to field its candidate from the constituency and added that the issue would be resolved amicably. When asked if he would contest from Dakshina Kannada parliamentary constituency, Mr Moily denied the possibility saying that neither did he have any reason to avoid Chikkaballapur nor did the people there have any reason not to vote for him.
