THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former KPCC president V. M. Sudheeran in his farewell speech urged his successor M. M. Hassan to strengthen the party and keep factionalism away. In his lengthy speech, he ensured to give due acknowledgement to all those leaders including the central leadership as well as senior leader A. K. Antony and former chief minister Oommen Chandy whom he had associated with during his tenure as president for the past three years and a month.
He said slogans he raised during his two political rallies – Janapaksha Yatra and Janaraksha Yatra - had more relevance now. His slogans were for a state free of liquor and for the people to take up organic farming in a big way, following which the KPCC implemented as Gandhi Haritha Samrudhi with the support of Karshika Karma Sena.

He recalled the services rendered by former DCC presidents and the serving DCC presidents. He claimed that when he became PCC chief, he did not have any nominees in the party. But during his tenure, he got the support of the majority of the leaders. However, unfortunately, the party is facing a dearth of leaders to work at grassroots level
