Thiruvananthapuram: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is resorting to weakening and destroying the parliamentary democracy, alleged senior Congress leader Veerappa Moily. “Mr. Modi does not believe in a democratic set-up,” he said while inaugurating KPCC's protest meet against Narendra Modi at KPCC office in Thiruvanathapuram.

In the last two years, India was witnessing sheer anarchy, Mr. Moily said, adding that Mr. Modi never cared to attend Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha sessions even though he would be present in his office. “He has never invited the Opposition leaders for discussions. The Planning Commission was terminated when the planning process was on progress. The Niti Ayog hardly functions,” he said.

Mr. Moily also alleged that the funds earmarked for the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Gurantee Act and food safety have been reduced. Similarly, much hyped projects like Make in India and startup projects were not successful. The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan also did not see the desired results, he said.
