ADILABAD: The TPCC is likely to fill up the vacant posts and create additional posts in the state committee by naming a few state general secretaries and vice presidents and adding a large number of secretary posts.

State party chief Revanth Reddy hopes to get clearance for this from the AICC so as to strengthen the party in the run-up to the assembly elections, which are five months away.

The filling of state-level party posts assumed importance since the party hoped that it would grab power in Telangana.

Top leaders of the TPCC are camping in Delhi and holding discussions with senior leader Rahul Gandhi about the induction of leaders from other parties to the Congress in the state.

Revanth Reddy filled up TPCC general secretary and vice-president posts but this caused “senior–junior” differences among the party leaders in December 2022.

According to sources, Revanth Reddy’s second-time effort to fill up the party posts is viewed by some Congressmen as part of his attempts to strengthen his own hands, more than the party.

Revanth has prepared a list of leaders for various posts under different categories and with due regard to caste equations and considering their seniority and the services these leaders rendered to the party.

A senior Congress leader from Adilabad told Deccan Chronicle that he met the party Telangana in charge Manikrao Thakre and requested him to give him a suitable post by considering his seniority. The leader from Adilabad claimed that Thakre promised to consider his name for the party state secretary post. This did not impress him as many leaders who were juniors to him got the state general secretary posts a few months ago.
