Farm loan waiver list to go online
Mr Raju said that a total of Rs 5,789.92 crore agricultural loan availed by 16.94 lakh farmers from various cooperative societies has been waived off.
Chennai: State cooperative minister Sellur K. Raju on Tuesday said that list of beneficiaries of the farm loan waiver scheme in the state would be published in the website as per the direction of the chief minister.
Replying to a call attention motion moved by Opposition parties DMK and Congress, he said that the move to publish name of the beneficiaries in the website of cooperative societies is a first of its kind such initiative.
Mr Raju said that a total of Rs 5,789.92 crore agricultural loan availed by 16.94 lakh farmers from various cooperative societies has been waived off. He said that loan waiver scheme was the first file to be signed by chief minister immediately after swearing in ceremony. He noted that AIADMK has promised in its election manifesto that it would waive off the farms loans taken by small and marginal farmers.
Minister said that a three member committee has been formed to verify the list of beneficiaries. Any farmers who was left out of the scheme could approach the committee, he said, adding that if they were not satisfied with the committee, they could approach the zonal joint registrar.
Earlier, DMK members R. Sakkarapani, T. Senguttuvan and S. Austin demanded the state government to extend the farm loan waiver to those farmers who have taken the loans from nationalised banks as well and also cover to the loans of big farmers. Congress member J G Prince demanded the state government to waive of the jewels loan taken by the farmers.
