Visakhapatnam: Revenue minister Dharmana Prasada Rao asserted that he is doing his real estate business honestly.

“But a section of media and opposition leader N. Chandrababu Naidu are misleading public with wrong interpretations,” Dharmana told people during his Gadapa Gadapaku Mana Prabhutvam programme in Srikakulam on Saturday.

He reacted after a report appeared in media that the minister has offered plots on a 74-acre layout in Srikakulam to government employees.

The minister maintained that during his rule, Chandrababu Naidu gave importance to Janma Bhoomi committees and never focused on development activities. “Now he is busy slinging mud,” he remarked.

Dharmana underlined that as per AP Reorganisation Act of 2014, each district should get two key institutions. But the former CM has not got even one for Srikakulam district.

On his part, he promised to develop Srikakulam city by upgrading all the infrastructure facilities.

He pointed out that former minister Kinjarapu Atchennaidu and Narayana often visited the market area in Srikakulam, but never thought of developing it.

“YSRC government, under the leadership of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, has taken up remarkable development in four years, improving people’s quality of life. The poor own their house now. They are sending children to schools. They are leading a happy life, not witnessed during last 75 years,” the minister stated.

He said state government spent ₹500 crore on purchasing land for distributing house sites to 12,000 homeless people in Srikakulam district alone.

Dharmana said similarly, health services have also improved in Srikakulam district during the last four years. The district has 900 beds in government hospitals and more are being added. Specialist doctors are also being recruited, he added.
