Eye on 2019 election, N Chandrababu Naidu calculates caste combinations
Kapu Corporation has been allotted Rs 1,000 crore in the Budget.
Hyderabad: It is raining funds for caste corporations in Andhra Pradesh. With an ambitious target to achieve 80 per cent of public support in 2019 election, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has been working on further caste combinations.
Recently the CM, as part of his efforts to add Vaddera caste into his kitty, sanctioned funds for the community's development.
The state already has started several corporations like Kapu Corporation, Brahmin Corporation, SC/ST Corporation and BC Corporation, mostly set up by the CM.
A source in Mr Naidu’s camp said: “Our party leader has been inspired with Singapore politics, where the rules try to increase their mass support. In 2014, it worked out for the party with a combination of Kapu votes. Kapu Corporation has been allotted Rs 1,000 crore in the Budget. Now after we came into power, we started Brahmin Corporation and allotted Rs65 crore. We also decided to increase funding to Backward Classes (BCs), including Vadderas.”
Around 100 Kapu students were recently sent abroad for foreign studies.
The TD government earlier in the Budget allocated Rs 8,832 crore for Backward Classes, Rs 710.57 crore for minorities, Rs 8,724 crore for Scheduled Castes and Rs 3,100 cro-re for Scheduled Tribes. Meanwhile, Mr Naidu’s son Nara Lokesh is busy updating the TD 2014 database with the latest data of his party workers and general voters.
