1.5 Lakh to Attend Modi Meet in Mahbubnagar
HYDERABAD: BJP leaders are gearing up to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi who will be on an official visit to Telangana state on October 1.
Revealing details, BJP’s national vice-president D.K. Aruna said, "People will come from all across erstwhile Mahbubnagar district. We are hoping the Bhoothpur ground — where the meeting is set to be organised — will be attended by 1.5 lakh people. As of now, various development programmes, which are going to be inaugurated, have not been communicated to us. Doubling of railway lines and national highways have happened. Bharat Mala works are happening in the district. The foundation stone for a bridge on Somasila could be laid."
Once constructed the cable bridge will cut the distance between Hyderabad and Tirupati by 80 km. Currently, the distance between the two cities is 580 km. The Somasila-Siddeshwaram cable stay-cum-suspension bridge has been a two-decade old demand.
Former MP from Mahbubnagar A.P. Jithender Reddy said, "The people have been waiting for the PM's visit who has successfully completed G20, passed women's reservation bill, hoisted our flag on the Moon. Nearly 1.5 lakh people are going to attend the meeting. People will come from 14 assembly constituencies. He could lay the foundation stone for some works the details of which are being worked out."
Even as leaders claim they will mobilise 1.5 lakh people, Bhoothpur police station sub-inspector P. Srinivasulu says, "The ground, where the meeting will take place, can accommodate one lakh people. It's an open agricultural land owned by private persons. The NOC to be obtained for the lands and other things are being looked at by the collector's office as it is an official programme."
