Communist member throws chappal at Rajgopal
BJP accuses police of failing to protect him, threatens to seek security from CRPF
HYDERABAD: As the high-stakes bypoll approaches, Munugode seems to be boiling over, with political leaders from all parties getting into altercations. Following the recent clashes between BJP and Congress supporters, it now appears that the BJP and the Communist party are in a confrontation mode.
A Communist party member allegedly attempted to hit BJP candidate Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy with a chappal in Choutuppal mandal, days after BJP activists allegedly attacked the convoy of Palvai Sravanthi, the Congress candidate for Munugode.
The ugly incident occurred during the poll campaigning on Sunday night, but Rajgopal Reddy narrowly escaped. Some members of the Communist party also organised demonstrations while Rajgopal Reddy was campaigning in Munugode, with some of them waving chappals in his direction.
A furious Rajgopal Reddy accused the local police of failing to protect him, blaming them for such incidents.
“If Telangana police fail to prevent such incidents during campaigning, I will be compelled to seek Central Reserve Police Force protection,” he remarked.
