Draft Electoral Rolls of AP Released, More Women Than Men
Vijayawada: The draft electoral rolls of Andhra Pradesh was released on Friday, under which the state’s total voters, including service voters, number 4,02,21,450. Of these, 1,91,31,791 are men, 2,03,85,851 women and 3,808 the third gender. There are 46,165 polling stations in AP.
The last date for receiving claims and objections is December 9, 2023. The final publication of the electoral roll will be on January 5 2024.
The Special Summary Revision (SSR) 2024 was released by Chief Electoral Officer Mukesh Meena. In an official statement, he said female voters outnumbered males. While the total number of female voters is 2,03,85,851, male voters number 1,98,31,791 and the third gender voters 3,808. The service voters number 68,158.
Anantapur has the highest number of voters -- 19,79,775 -- and the Alluri Sitarama Raju district the lowest -- 7,40,857.
The CEO said the voters list revision was done at all levels from January 6, 2022 to August 30, 2023 and the authority re-examined the removal of 21,18,940 voters. As many as 2,51,767 voters were identified with zero door numbers in the door-to-door survey in August.
There were more than 10 voters in as many as 1,57,939 houses. A special drive would be held to reduce the number of these voters to 66,740. The houses. with more than 10 voters were also inspected and the number was reduced to 71,581, he said.
Mukesh Meena explained that the total number of 18-19 age group electors was 2,88,155.
Due to the freezing of the roll on September 18, the process with respect to the remaining houses remains incomplete. The work would be taken up again in a campaign mode. All the eligible youths who attain the age of 18 years on April 1, 2024, July 1, 2024 or October 1, 2024, meaning those who missed out on earlier occasions, could file their applications for enrollment.
