Nara Bhuvaneswari challenges CID, speaks in defence of Naidu
Tirupati: Nara Bhuvaneswari, wife of Telugu Desam chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu, has challenged the CID to provide any evidence of corruption against her husband.
The investigative agency will come up empty-handed after their investigations, she told a public meeting during her Nijam Gelavali yatra here on Thursday.
She advised the YSRC government to focus on the development of the state rather than conducting an inquiry into silly matters like where the open letter to the public released by Naidu was written.
Bhuvaneswari lambasted the state government for the “wrongful” imprisonment of Naidu. She said, “Chandrababu is known for his discipline and integrity. Neither he nor his family has any need to siphon off funds from the party or the people. “Justice and truth would prevail, and Chandrababu would emerge unscathed from the ongoing investigations,” she said.
Bhuvaneswari questioned the government's track record in the last nearly five years and said there was no significant industrial or job-creating initiatives. “My husband had aspired to transform every district into an industrial hub during his term as CM. He brought companies like Kia Motors to Anantapur and encouraged setting up of electronic and hardware industries in Tirupati by involving firms like Silicon and Foxconn.”
However, these businesses had been driven out of the state by the present government through harassment. These are now contributing to other states' development and job opportunities.”
She cited the example of Amara Raja Batteries, which invested significantly in Telangana after allegedly facing difficulties in AP. “The governments of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra and New Delhi have invited us to establish Heritage units, providing all necessary facilities without resorting to threats.”
Bhuvaneswari raised concern over the state government's approach to dissent. “Attempt-to-murder cases have been filed against those on hunger strikes, and those who burnt effigies in SV university while false cases were filed against women activists of the Jana Sena when they interacted with the media.”
“Chandrababu has asked me to console the families of those who passed away due to the shock over his arrest. I assured them that the TD would always stand by them. I thank all for the overwhelming support we received from the people, and urge you to unite and draw inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi's call for collective action,” she said.
