Congress appoints assembly coordinators for anti-Dharani campaign
Hyderabad: The state Congress on Sunday appointed Assembly-level coordinators in 99 constituencies to spearhead the party’s ongoing campaign against the state government over the poor handling of the Dharani portal.
After demonstrations were held across the state over the past week, Congress leaders will now rope in landowners who were allegedly victimised due to improper use of the portal on November 30.
“We will be taking up protest programmes at Assembly constituency headquarters and later leaders will be submitting memorandum to RDO or MRO, urging them to resolve the issues farmers were facing in the constituency,” PCC working president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud told Deccan Chronicle.
Claiming the mandal-level demonstrations were successful, he said: “We are ensuring that all are involved, including leaders of different frontal organisations. We are also regularly holding virtual meetings for effective coordination for the campaign.”
On November 22, top leaders were assigned responsibilities as district-level coordinators, following which the campaign was launched on November 24, with dharnas organised at the mandal level to highlight farmers’ issues. They pointed to several issues, including loan waiver, crop insurance scheme, Rythu Bandhu and podu lands.
