Congress MLA K Muraleedharan fires at backstabbers'
He alleged that those leaders who ate from the same leaf have also betrayed him.
Thiruvananthapuram: Latching on to KPCC president M. M. Hassan’s disclosure about knives against K. Karunakaran, son K. Muraleedharan said there were many senior leaders, who had backstabbed his father. “Better not to revive such tales of betrayal, which would further weaken the organisation”, he said. While addressing DCC’s memorial programme on his father at Kozhikode, Muraleedharan took a veiled attack against Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala. He alleged that those leaders who ate from the same leaf have also betrayed him.
Mr Muraleedharan added that his father had experienced similar conspiracies in Rajan case as well as in Palmolein case. He opined that people should not cast aspersions on his "silence" when he added that he is not looking for lucrative political posts. "In Mahabharata, Krishna was equally responsible along with Arjuna for the killing of Karnan. Similarly, in the case of Karunakaran’s political milieu, there have been concerted efforts from almost every section in the party to oust him from power on various occasions”, he said.
It was unwarranted for the Congress to oust Karunakaran during 1995. Muraleedharan lamented that it is better not to go down the memory lane lest there would be further explosions within the party. When Muraleedharan made his explosive speech, Congress workers broke into huge applause. He had maintained that it was after his father's ouster the party started degenerating. Hassan had on Saturday revealed that in 1995 A. K. Antony had asked some party leaders not to unseat Karunakaran.
