Hyderabad: BJP state president and Union minister G. Kishan Reddy said categorising the recent five state elections as the semi-finals before the parliamentary polls cost the opposition parties dearly as the people chose the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP.

Addressing the media at the party headquarters in Hyderabad, he said, “People are veering towards the BJP and had aired the view that they would back Modi in the parliamentary polls.”

He said the Congress had lost badly in Rajasthan and the BJP received the highest-ever majority in Madhya Pradesh. “There is a more positive response to the Modi rule. All sections of people across regions are looking towards him. We are the only party with a 100 per cent rise in voting percentage though our performance was less than expected.”

He said that in the review on December 28 with Union home minister Amit Shah in attendance will prepare an action plan ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. It will be attended by leaders ranging from the mandal presidents to MPs.

On the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya which will be consecrated on January 22, Kishan Reddy said the construction of the temple was made possible by the arguments presented in the Supreme by the Centre.

“The BJP is extending all possible help to the Ram Temple trust. I call on all activists to work for it. All temples will be decked up and the consecration in Ayodhya will be telecast on the day,” he said.
