Thanjavur: Senior BJP leader from Tamil Nadu and its national executive committee member CP Radhakrishnan said that as the people of the state want a government that “has amicable relationship with the Central government,” the saffron party will strive to forge an alliance with such a regional party for the coming Assembly polls in the state.

He told presspersons here that the BJP has been talking with several parties for forming an electoral alliance in Tamil Nadu. The party will announce its electoral ally after these talks were over, Radhakrishnan said. He said that except for the Congress and the Left parties, the BJP has had an alliance with the DMK, AIADMK, MDMK, PMK and the DMDK in Tamil Nadu in the past.

“Instead of making tall promises and failing to implement them, the central government has announced projects that can be completed within one year in the railway budget for 2016-17,” Radhakrishnan said.

He urged that the Tamil Nadu Government should implement total prohibition in the state before the elections as the younger generation had become ‘spoilt’ because of liquor. Even girls were now drinking, giving a blow to Tamil culture, he said.

The BJP leader appreciated the Tamil Nadu government for making excellent arrangements for the Mahamaham-2016 festival. Police, fire and rescue services personnel had done a good job, he said.

M.S.Ramalingam, state executive committee member, Ilango, district president and U.N.Umapathy, district secretary were present on the occasion.
