AIADMK using MGR's image for political mileage: Leelavathy
“The AIADMK has lost its strength. It's like a ship without a captain. Many in that party have forgotten MGR, says M. C.R. Praveen.
Chennai: Alleging that none in AIADMK is following MGR's principles, Leelavathy, niece of AIADMK founder and former Chief Minister M.G. Ramachandran, accused the ruling AIADMK of using MGR's image for political mileage.
“The AIADMK that you see today is not the AIADMK founded by MGR. They are using his image and two leaves symbol for political mileage. No one follows his ideas and vision except Prime Minister Narendra Modi and this is the reason why I joined the BJP,” Leelavathy who had once saved the life of the matinee idol by donating her kidney in 1984, said. Leelavathy is daughter of MGR's brother M. G. Chakrapani,
“The AIADMK has lost its strength. It’s like a ship without a captain. Many in that party have forgotten MGR. As a political party, BJP gives us a lot of confidence,” says M. C. R. Praveen, grandson of M. C. Chakrapani (brother of MGR).
Claiming that family politics was dominating the AIADMK, he said his grandfather was against corruption and family rule. Praveen, who along with his father M. C. Rajendran and aunt Leelavathy, joined the BJP and had called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, praised Modi saying he was truly serving the public.
Two of MGR's kin - his adopted daughter Geetha Madhumohan and his adopted son Appu Ravindran's wife Nirmala, too had joined the BJP last month on MGR's birth centenary.
