When Chidambaram was the union minister he had not brought any schemes worth mentioning for the benefit of farmers, said Tamilisai Soundararajan.

Chennai: The BJP lashed out at former Union Finance Minister and Congress leader P. Chidambaram saying he has no moral right to criticise the PM Kissan Samman Nidhi Yojana as he had failed to bring any farmer welfare schemes during the UPA regime.

Taking strong exception, BJP state president Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan said the pro-farmer programme would benefit over 60 lakh farmers in Tamil Nadu. “When he was the union minister he had not brought any schemes worth mentioning for the benefit of farmers,” she told reporters here on Wednesday and added that farmers would not forgive him for his unsavoury comments.

“Today is the ‘Cash for Vote Day’….The BJP government will officially give a bribe of Rs.2,000 per agricultural family to get their votes”, Mr. Chidambaram had tweeted on the NDA’s much-publicised pre-poll programme launched on Feb. 24.
