Shamanur Shivashankarappa reluctant to contest

Bengaluru: With octogenarian Congress leader, Shamanur Shivashan karappa expressing his reluctance to contest the Lok Sabha poll from Davanagere, the Congress party must find a new candidate for the constituency which votes on April 23.
Shivashankarappa, now 88, dropped from the Siddaramaiah cabinet almost two years back for being too old may press for his son's candidature. “I was surprised when my name was announced. They dropped me from the cabinet because I was too old. And now they chose me to contest a Lok Sabha poll. I am not prepared,” he told Deccan Chronicle.
