Pondicherry CM N Rangasamy to contest from Indira Nagar
Rangasamy contested from two constituencies-Kadirgamam and Indira Nagar- in the last Assembly election, and later quit Indira Nagar.
Puducherry: All India NR Congress (AINRC) head and Puducherry Chief Minister N. Rangasamy on Wednesday announced a list of 21 candidates for the May 16 Assembly elections. Rangasamy said he will contest from Indira Nagar constituency.
Rangasamy contested from two constituencies-Kadirgamam and Indira Nagar- in the last Assembly election, and later quit Indira Nagar. He made history by being the first candidate to contest an election in the UT from two constituencies and winning both.
Assembly Speaker V. Sabhapathy, Deputy Speaker T.P.R. Selvam, Local Administration minister N.G Pannirselvam, Electricity minister T. Thiagarajan , government whip G.Nehru and legislator Ashok Anand have been renominated in the same constituencies.
Congress MLAs P.R.N. Thirumurugan and Theni C. Djeacoumar also find place in NR Congress list. Thirumurugan will contest from the same constituency, Karaikkal North, and NR congress fielded Djeacoumar in Villianur against the PCC president and sitting MLA A. Namassivayam.
Prominent among those who had been left out is agriculture minister M. Chandrakasu who won from Nedungadu constituency. NR congress fielded a lone woman candidate Priyanka in the seat.
Other candidates are Anibal (Rajbhawan), Udayakumar (Neravyt. R. Pattinam), Rahman (Mahe), Suresh (Karaikkal south), Bhairavasamy (Yanam), Jayapal (Kadirgamam), Sivakumar (Mangala), Prakash (Muthialpet), Bussy Anand (Oupalam), Balan(Mudaliarpet).
