Congress shelves Rahul Gandhi's public meet
He will not take part in the ongoing bus yatra for now.
Hyderabad: The Congress has shelved its plans to hold a public meeting for AICC president Rahul Gandhi on June 2 to mark the fourth Telangana State Formation Day celebrations.
Mr Gandhi’s busy schedule is cited as the reason. He will not take part in the ongoing bus yatra for now. TPCC chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said Mr Gandhi was busy with organisational changes being taken up in the party by the AICC. “We are trying to hold Rahul's public meeting or his participation in bus yatra in the second or third week of June.”
Mr Gandhi has visited the state thrice since 2014, once for a padayatra for farmers in Adilabad district in May 2015, then to the University of Hyderabad in January 2016 following the suicide of UoH student Rohith Vemula and the third time for the June 1, 2017, public meeting in Sangareddy.
