Telangana: Suryapet records 46ºC, hottest so far
HYDERABAD: Temperatures in the state crossed the 46 degree Celsius mark on Saturday, recording one of the hottest days of the year so far in a span of 10 days.
Suryapet recorded the highest maximum temperatures in the state at 46.1ºC with Bhadradri Kothagudem and Jayashankar Bhupalapally second in the list at 45.3 ºC, followed by Kumaram Bheem at 45.2 ºC and Khammam at 45.0 ºC — all the four districts in the red category as per the TS Development and Planning Society report.
In the city the highest temperature was recorded at Khairatabad at 40.4 ºC, followed by Quthbullapur at 39.7 ºC and Uppal at 39.6 ºC.
Meanwhile, light rain with thunderstorms were recorded at isolated places in the districts of Khammam, Nalgonda, Bhadradri Kothagudem and Nalgonda
Mercury levels will continue to soar in the state in the next two days as dry weather is very likely to prevail due to the low level north-westerlies.
An orange warning has been issued for maximum districts in the state for the next two days for the rising temperatures which will be in the range of 41ºC-44 ºC, whereas a yellow warning for other districts with maximum temperatures likely to be 36 ºC-40ºC degrees.
A yellow warning for rains has been issued for the state for the coming days as thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty winds at a speed of around 40 kmph is very likely to occur at isolated places.
Over the next 48 hours temperatures in the city limits are very likely to soar and the maximum and minimum temperatures will be 41ºC and 29ºC respectively, with a partly cloudy sky. Surface winds are likely to be north-westerlies with a speed of 6-8 kmph and a relative humidity of 49 per cent.
