Road map devised for shifting of secretariat from Hyderabad to Amaravati
The CRDA finalised the allotment of blocks for the secretariat departments in consultation with GAD.
Hyderabad: The state government has finally prepared a road map for the shifting of the secretariat departments from Hyderabad to the temporary complex at Velagapudi in the capital region. The Housing, Panchayat Raj, Medical and Health and Labour departments will move to Velagapudi on June 29.
In a circular issued on Monday, AP chief secretary S.P. Tucker said on Monday that an occupation ceremony would be held at 2.59 pm on June 29 for the first floor and on July 1 for the ground floor of the fifth block of the interim secretariat office complex.
The AP Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) handed over the fifth block of the temporary secretariat to the General Administration department (GAD) on Monday. The chief secretary held a meeting with secretaries when they discussed the shifting of the secretariat departments from Hyderabad to Velagapudi and finalised the road map for the move.
The meeting has decided to shift the secretariat departments, which were allotted the ground floors of the first to the fourth blocks, on July 15. The secretariat departments which were allotted the first floor will move to Velagapudi on July 21.
The state government is constructing six blocks — ground plus one — in Velagapudi to accommodate the secretariat departments, including the offices of the chief minister and chief secretaries. The sixth block will house the Assembly, Legislative Council and a large meeting hall while the first to fifth blocks have been allotted to the secretariat departments. The CRDA finalised the allotment of blocks for the secretariat departments in consultation with GAD.
Special chief secretary Ajeya Kallam said at Monday's meeting that the Revenue and Finance departments should be located in the same block. (Ajeya Kallam is currently holding both the Revenue and Finance departments).
Principal secretary Poonam Malakondaiah said that the Medical and Health and Women and Child Welfare departments, which she is in charge of, should be located in the same block.
