Tamilisai Soundararajan denies unfair comment on Ramadoss
Dr. Tamilisai accused Dr. S. Ramadoss of speaking adversely about those indulging in agitations.
Chennai: Facing criticism from the PMK for allegedly commenting about their founder Dr S. Ramadoss, BJP state president Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan has denied making any objectionable remarks about the senior Ramadoss while addressing a public meeting in Singaperumalkoil recently.
Asserting that she had said nothing objectionable either about him or his party, Dr. Tamilisai accused Dr. S. Ramadoss of speaking adversely about those indulging in agitations. "I was asked (during an interview) about senior Ramadoss' objection to the Chennai-Salem green expressway corridor, citing the destruction of trees. I had replied 'Ramadoss is talking about cutting of trees!' And I stopped there with a smile. Nowhere had I referred to Vanniyar caste or said anything defaming the leader," Dr. Tamilisai said on Wednesday.
Averring that she is never against caste in particular and nor has she ever spoken ill about any caste, the BJP president asked those opposing her to rewind Dr. S. Ramadoss' earlier interview, where he was asked about his party earning the sobriquet of ‘mara vetti’ (chopper of trees).
“He had then replied in the affirmative and even remarked that his partymen had acted foolishly in cutting down trees without knowing how to stage agitation in the 1980s. That's why we are planting trees, he had said,” Dr Tamilisai recalled.
