TRS Nizamabad leaders gang up against Srinivas
Seek action against the Rajya Sabha MP for anti-party activities.
NIZAMABAD: Ruling TRS MPs, MLCs and MLAs of undivided Nizamabad district unanimously urged Chief Minister and party president K. Chandrasekhar Rao to initiate disciplinary action against party's Rajya Sabha member D. Srinivas for his alleged anti-party activities.
“We tried to convince and coordinate with him but in vain,” they said, adding that Mr Srinivas cannot mend his attitude of encouraging groups, lobbying and making illegal money, they said.
An emergency meeting convened at the party office in Nizamabad on Wednesday was attended by party MPs Kalvakuntla Kavitha and B.B. Patil, MLAs Gampa Govardhan, E. Ravinder Reddy, Bajireddy Govardhan, Shakeel, V. Prashanth Reddy, A. Jeevan Reddy and Hanmanth Shinde and MLCs D. Rajeshwar and V.G. Goud. They submitted a memorandum to the party's district in-charge and Karimnagar Zilla Parishad chairperson Tula Uma.
Ms Kavitha said the TRS had given due respect to Mr Srinivas considering his long public life and elevated him as state adviser with Cabinet rank on inter-state affairs. He was also elected Rajya Sabha member, but he is trying to support other parties, she said.
Kavitha said that TRS cadre is in a dilemma over Mr Srinivas’ attitude. “He is unable to control his family affairs and it is ultimately damaging TRS image in Nizamabad district,” she said. “We will not spare anybody who destabilises the party base.”
The Nizamabad MP said the party MLAs are facing inconvenience due to Mr Srinivas’ attitude. “We have lost our patience and have decided to bring the issue to the notice of the party president,” she said.
Ms Kavitha said Mr Rao would not tolerate it even if it was his son or daughter damaging the party's image.
“Being a disciplined party, TRS high command should initiate action against Mr Srinivas immediately,” she said.
Ms Kavitha said that the Chief Minister will also take action against party MLC R. Bhupathi Reddy at an appropriate time for his anti-party activities.
On the other hand, Mr Srinivas said he did not indulge in any anti-party activities. He refused to comment on the charges levelled by his party men that he was met Congress leader Sonia Gandhi in Delhi.
Mr Srinivas's son and former Nizamabad mayor D. Sanjay said his father would wait for the decision of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
Kavitha frustrated about losing fame: Dharmapuri
BJP state executive committee member and senior politician D. Srinivas's younger son Dharmapuri Arvid, reacting to the allegations against his father, said Nizamabad MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha was frustrated after her political base is destabilised in Nizamabad district. “On the pretext of my active role in BJP, the TRS leadership has targeted my father,” he said.
Mr Arvind’s reaction came after Ms Kavitha's allegations against Mr Srinivas on Wednesday that he was helping TRS leaders join the BJP. “Our family is actively working in Nizamabad district and Kavitha is not available for people of the constituency,” he said.
The political ideologies of mine and my father are different. Why should they target him for my role in Nizamabad politics,” he asked. Mr Arvind said that TRS should not interfere in BJP's politics and that his party's high command decides whom to welcome to their fold.
Congress taunts danam over insult to Srinivas
Congress legislator A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday termed the TRS move to take disciplinary action on party MP D. Srinivas as “fathers’ anxiety over their children.”
He told mediapersons that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was anxious about his daughter and TRS MP K. Kavitha and Mr Srinivas about his sons.
Mr Revanth Reddy demanded Mr Danam Nagender, who joined the TRS from the Congress recently, to react to the insult of Mr Srinivas, a BCs leader, in the ruling party. Mr Nagender had said he was quitting the Congress due to the injustice being done to BCs and weaker sections in the party.
Commenting on Mr Chandrasekhar Rao’s proposed visit to Vijayawada on Thursday to have darshan at the Kanakadurga temple, Mr Revanth Reddy said that as early elections were approaching, the Chief Minister was memorising “Gutta meeda Ammavaru, gutta kinda Kammavaru” (The goddesses on hills and the Kamma community below), a reference to the TRS reportedly trying to woo voters belonging to the community in the state.
