HYDERABAD: Congress Legislature party leader Bhatti Vikramarka, on the 104th day of padayatra, said that Telangana was set to witness a pro-Congress wave akin to the one in Karnataka in the elections.

Addressing a meeting at Chandupatla in Chivvemla mandal of Suryapeta constituency, Bhatti said, “Every vote for BRS is a vote for the BJP. A vote for the secular Congress alone will become a vote against BJP. ”

He said that after the recent meeting of Minister K.T. Rama Rao with Union ministers in Delhi, it became evident once again that the BRS and the BJP were on the same side. He cautioned the minorities to bear this in mind while voting.

“KCR is known for his false promises and minorities should teach him a lesson in the next elections for cheating them after promising 12 per cent reservation,” Bhatti said.

Though BJP and BRS put up a fight to show they are opposed to each other, but the BRS supported several Bills brought by BJP in Parliament. The BJP criticises the BRS government for its corruption but strangely never takes any action against their leaders, he said.

Bhatti said that Prime Minister Modi had become “insecure” after the success of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra and conspired to disqualify him as a Member of Parliament citing his conviction in a defamation case.

Pointing out the injustice meted out to the BC communities who comprise 50 per cent of the population in the state, Bhatti said that the Chandrashekar Rao government had allocated a mere five per cent in the budget and all it did was to distribute sheep, buffaloes and fish in the name of their upliftment.

The Congress after coming to power would allocate funds to BCs based on the proportion of their population and introduce a BC sub-plan, Bhatti announced.

Lamenting that the aspirations of people were not met in Telangana which was achieved after the people’s movement, the CLP leaders said with no recruitment, universities have become centres of unemployed youth. Farmers, unemployed, artisans, those practising hereditary professions and others who participated in the Telangana movement are all facing hardships.

BRS government removed all other subsidies in lieu of Rythu Bandhu and did not purchase paddy from farmers and even when it was procured, paddy was weighed 12 kg less for every bag. Contrary to its claims that it is a farmer-friendly government, BRS has become an anti-farmer government.

Bhatti said the public response to his padayatra in Suryapet indicated people’s mood that Congress Party will form the next government and asserted that among the first things to be implemented by the Congress government would be a loan waiver at one go for farmers.

A job calendar will be announced to fill all vacant posts for which the unemployed have been waiting for nine years. The Rajiv Arogyasri health insurance limit will be increased to Rs. five lakhs and the poor without houses will be given Rs. 5 lakhs for the construction of double-bedroom houses.

For the landless poor, Rs.12,000 will be given under ‘Coolie Bandhu’ per year. A decision will be taken regarding the payment of insurance premiums for every family by the State government, he said.
