BJP seeks to attract all in Telangana
Mr Rao said, “There is a lot of scope for the growth of the BJP in Telangana.â€
Hyderabad: The BJP high command has asked the state leadership to build the party as an alternative political platform to attract leaders who are against the TRS but are not interested in joining the Congress.
BJP general secretary and Karnataka incharge P. Muralidhar Rao said, “The TRS is in the gover-nment and there is space for the Opposition. Earli-er, the Congress had a tie-up with the Owasi family led MIM and now the TRS is its partner.”
He told this newspaper, “The Congress has failed to be an active Opposition. There are two types of leaders in the Congress now. Those who are joining the TRS and those who are unable to join but are working under the table for the TRS. The space for the Opposition is empty which only the BJP can fill.”
Replying to a question about how the BJP was going to be strengthened in Telangana state, Mr. Rao said, “Mass recruitment will be done. For the strengthening of the BJP, booth-wise recruitment of young people, recruitment of middle-class professionals, intellectuals, retired bureaucrats, and inviting leaders from the TD, Congress and whoever feels that they should join the BJP and strengthen the party will be welcomed.”
He said that the old timers of the Telugu Desam and senior leaders of the Congress who were anti-TRS were looking towards the BJP.
Mr Rao said, “There is a lot of scope for the growth of the BJP in Telangana.”
