‘Rashtrapatni’ row: BJP demands action against Congress MP
Veerraju said that the Cong MP’s remark humiliated the highest constitutional post and asked why he was not expelled from the party
Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party BJP president Somu Veerraju demanded stringent action against Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary for his ‘Rashtrapatni’ remark on President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday.
Speaking to media persons, he said that the Congress MP’s remark humiliated the highest constitutional post and asked as to why he was not expelled from the Congress party. He opined that the MP’s remark indicated that the Congress party was not happy to make a tribal woman as the President of India.
He slammed the Congress’s narrow-mindedness toward the tribals and particularly, a tribal woman who became inspirational to scores of people by holding such a highest constitutional post in the country. The BJP senior leader called upon the party cadre to stage a protest at all district headquarters against the Congress.
