Congress eyes Independent candidates

These candidates had political background and has emerged as strong contenders from a few constituencies in the old Adilabad district.

Congress party's Jana Ashirvad Rally at Palace Grounds, which was attended by party president Rahul Gandhi, threw traffic out of gear in the Central Business District on Sunday afternoon.

Adilabad: The Congress party was trying to lure the strong candidates planning to contest as an independent candidates in the next elections in the old Adilabad district.

Population of the Vellamma community was very less in the old Adilabad district but they were strong politically in the Mancherial and Asifabad Kumaram Bheem districts. These candidates had political background and has emerged as strong contenders from a few constituencies in the old Adilabad district.

Senior Congress leader and former ZP Chairperson Sidam Ganapathi, state secretary Gosula Srinivas Yadav and Ravi Srinivas who recently joined the Congress party from the TDP were also strong contenders for the party ticket to contest in the next election.

Dr Palvai Harish Babu, son of former MLA late Purushotham Rao, has been emerged as strong contender from the Sirpur (T) Assembly Constituency and also economically strong.
