Assembly or LS, dilemma haunts BJP and Arvind
NIZAMABAD: All eyes are on Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Arvind and the likelihood of his contesting the Assembly elections. As he is keen on playing a role in state politics, he may opt for either Armoor or Korutla seat in Jagtial district, party scores said.
Arvind set a record of sorts in Nizamabad by winning the Lok Sabha election only a year into active politics, defeating K. Kavitha of the BRS by a large margin.
Although his close associates said that the MP targets the ruling party, especially the Kalvakuntla family, about state-related issues, Arvind has set up his office in Armoor, which is the central point for the Nizamabad parliamentary constituency.
The entry of industrialist Paidi Rakesh Reddy into the BJP has changed political equations in Armoor. While the general belief was that Arvind could contest from Armoor, where the BJP is strong, Rakesh Reddy is keen on contesting from there. As an alternative, Arvind may contest from Korutla where he has a strong base in Korutla and he could have a cakewalk, party sources said.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, a senior BJP leader, on condition of anonymity, said that the party high command will take a call as regards Arvind vis-à-vis which election he will contest.
‘Arvind wants to contest the Assembly elections. The political equations will change soon, he said.
