Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Wednesday directed the Director General of Police (DGP) to serve notices to 26 people, including Telugu Desam (TD) leaders Gorantla Buchaiah Choudhary and Budha Venkanna, for contempt of court.

The notices were issued in response to a petition filed by the Advocate General alleging that the 26 people had made derogatory remarks against judges from the ACB court and the High Court in connection with the AP skill development scam involving TD president N. Chandrababu Naidu.

The petition alleged that the TD leaders and others had trolled the judges on social media after the ACB judge remanded Naidu to judicial custody and the High Court judges took up hearings on cases involving Naidu, issuing orders that were against the interests of Naidu and the TD.

The High Court directed the DGP to serve notices to the TD leaders and others and posted the next hearing for four weeks.

Earlier, the office of the President of India had also directed the Chief Secretary to initiate appropriate action against those involved in making derogatory remarks against judges.
