Congress leader calls for CID probe into Telangana Jagruti frauds
Hyderabad: Telangana Congress leader Bakka Judson lodged a complaint with TS-CID seeking a probe into the alleged diversion of funds by Telangana Jagruti under the pretext of skill development.
Judson alleged that Jagruti’s directors Kalvakuntla Kavitha and her husband Anil Kumar had collected crores of rupees as quid pro quo for favours extended by her father Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao through benami sources. The amount so collected was siphoned off as they were never used for the stated purposes, he alleged.
He said that Kavitha had started Telangana Jagruti as a state cultural centre. In November 2015, she also floated another firm “Bharat Jagruti Foundation” with Kavitha herself and her husband as directors, and had entered into an agreement with the Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) and siphoned off several crores in the name of skill development program in Telangana.
Five skill development centres were opened in the state. Tinsel town celebrities and reputed personalities were roped in for its fundraising activities, he said.
However, the list of students who underwent training at the centers is not available and its official website remains non-functional, he said.
Judson alleged that the scam pulled off by Telangana Jagruti is much bigger than the AP Skill development scam, for which former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is in jail for his alleged involvement.
“Chandrashekar Rao, his daughter and the then Union skill development minister Rajeev Pratap Rudy misled youth with false promises,” he alleged.
In his complaint to CID chief Mahesh Bhagwat, Judson called for a probe against Kavitha, Anil Kumar and other directors of the organisation.
