Congress Leaders Dare KTR for an Open Debate on OU Campus on Jobs
HYDERABAD: Congress leaders waited for BRS leaders at the Arts College on the Osmania University campus to debate on jobs provided by the government in the last nine years. AICC secretary and former MLA Ch Vamshichand Reddy and TPCC vice-president Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy along with scores of party workers left after no one from the BRS turned up.
The Congress challenge was in response to the statement made by BRS working president and IT minister K.T. Rama Rao earlier on Saturday that BRS government provided over 2 lakh government jobs in the last nine years.
Speaking to media at OU campus, Vamshichand Reddy said that under BRS regime, the unemployment rate had increased to 15.1 per cent.
He said more than 22 lakh unemployed people have registered with the TSPSC for recruitment exams. But the government had them youth by not conducting the recruitment exams properly which had resulted in their being cancelled.
He said the BRS promised to pay Rs 3,106 unemployment allowance to youth in its 2018 election manifesto but did not implement it. The BRS government owed Rs 1,71,912 to every unemployed youth, he said.
Vamsichand Reddy alleged that all the schemes started by the previous Congress governments for the unemployed youth were shelved by the BRS government which resulted in loss of direct and indirect employment to about 65 lakh youths.
Vamshichand Reddy said that if the Congress was voted to power, it would announce the job calendar every year in two phases on June 2 and September 17 and the TSPSC would be reconstituted with eminent academicians.
