Parties Vie for TD Supporters' Votes in Serilingampally
Hyderabad: Aspirants to the Serilingampally legislator post — an area that covers a major part of the IT corridor and houses a sizeable number of Telugu Desam supporters — were seen trying to sway TD voters.
In one instance, participants in one of Congress candidate Jagadeeshwar Goud’s road shows were seen holding TD flags, with Goud himself sporting a yellow ‘kanduva.’Congress’ Khammam candidate Tummala Nageswara Rao was also spotted wearing a yellow ‘kanduva’ in one of his meetings.
BJP’s Serilingampally candidate Ravi Kumar Yadav duly followed suit, while meeting residents of gated communities. BJP workers in the constituency were also seen widely sharing videos of Daggubati Purandeswari, the AP BJP chief and daughter of TD founder N.T. Rama Rao. In a widely shared video, Purandeswari can be seen seeking votes in favour of Ravi Kumar Yadav, with Rama Rao’s picture prominently displayed in the backdrop.
BRS MLA Arekapudi Gandhi recently paid tribute at a statue of Rama Rao after recently having taken part in the CBN Gratitude Concert event organised by the TD in Gachibowli.
A voter, who is an ardent follower of Naidu, said that this time around, they are not supporting the candidate on community lines and that many have opted to vote for the Congress.
