Hyderabad: Union minister G. Kishan Reddy has penned an open letter citing the dangers posed by the Congress and the I.N.D.I.A. bloc. He called for halting the hubris of the alliance at the nascent stage itself.

In the letter he said, “The Congress-led alliance has been working towards destabilising the country on every occasion. The latest instance of a DMK leader castigating Hindi-speaking UP and Bihar citizens that they come to Tamil Nadu and clean toilets had caused consternation in the country. Such words are unfortunate and objectionable. Is it acceptable to speak poorly of hard working people?”

Continuing further, the state BJP chief said, “This is not new for these parties as one of their MPs had recently said that the BJP manages to win in states where cow urine is consumed. The alliance parties had in earlier instances spoken ill of Sanatana dharma and equated it to cancer, dengue and malaria. They fail to understand that such talk hurts the sensibilities and sentiments of the people. By the time Ram temple is opened on January 22, we need to see what else will be said.”

Citing instances from the past, he said, “The attitude of the Congress has been the same since independence. While the then Union home minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel had batted for the reconstruction of Somnath temple and Mahatma Gandhi had agreed, it was Jawaharlal Nehru, who had obstructed. The DMK, which is part of the alliance, had taken out many rallies questioning Sanatana dharma and the existence of Lord Rama in the past, Reddy recalled. It also approached the Supreme Court in 2007 to demolish the Rama Setu to build a shipping canal. It had held that the sacred texts were just a literary creation.”
