Karnataka CM claims people rejected corruption charges against BJP
Bengaluru: After elections were declared, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Wednesday exuded confidence of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) retaining power in the State and claimed that the people of the State have rejected the corruption charges against BJP levelled by Opposition parties.
He told reporters in Bengaluru that charges made by opposition parties against BJP has ‘boomeranged’ on them and referring to the Lokayukta raid on BJP MLA Veerupakshappa Madal, the Chief Minister said the raid took place owing to BJP steps to strengthen Lokayukta and allowed Lokayukta to function impartially. He alleged that such cases would have been buried had it occurred under the rule of opposition parties.
Bommai accused the Congress of having its ‘traditional vote bank’ destroyed in the State and the party of making desperate attempts to come back to power in the State.
Expressing confidence that the voters would re-elect the BJP to power, Bommai said that several long pending issues such as internal reservation classification, hike in reservation for social downtrodden, reservation changes in OBCs, works initiated for women, students, farmers would help BJP to retain power in the State. “We will go to the people seeking a positive mandate for BJP,” Bommai said.
