M V Nikesh Kumar serves notice on Ramesh Chennithala
The notice says that the cases mentioned by the Home Minister are connected with the liability of a company, not an individual.
Kochi: M.V. Nikesh Kumar, media personality and the LDF candidate in Azhikode constituency in Kannur district, has served a legal notice to home minister Ramesh Chennithala for the remark that Mr. Kumar is an accused in 52 criminal cases.
The notice has asked Mr. Chennithala to withdraw the remarks in 15 days and tender a public apology or face defamatory proceedings. The notice by Mr. Kumar stated that the cases mentioned by Mr. Chennithala were connected with the liability of a company and it was not a personal liability of Mr. Kumar.
The remark by Mr. Chennithala has given a deliberate impression that it was a personal liability of Mr. Kumar. According to the notice, the action of Mr. Chennithala was a deliberate attempt by the home minister to mislead the public and politically motivated. Mr. Kumar has alleged that this was part of a deliberate attempt to influence the people at the time of elections and subvert the independence of the electoral process.
Mr. Kumar has also filed complaints with Election Commission and Kannur district police head against Mr. Chennithala in view of the later continuing with this defamatory information in social media outlets.
