Centre deliberately acting against interests of Pondy, TN: V Narayanasamy
Mr. Narayanasamy said the DMK and Congress have been agitating in both the States demanding the constitution of the CMB.
Chennai: Puducherry Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy has accused the Centre of “deliberately acting against the interests” of the people of Puducherry and Tamil Nadu in not implementing the Supreme Court verdict on the Cauvery water dispute.
“Had the Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished, he would have formed the Cauvery Management Board in one day. He has refused to take into account the feelings of the people of Puducherry and Tamil Nadu. The delay in not forming the board shows that he is ignoring both the States” he said on Saturday.
Speaking to reporters here Mr. Narayanasamy said the DMK and Congress have been agitating in both the States demanding the constitution of the CMB. He blamed the Centre of continuously acting aga-inst the interests of Tamil Nadu and Puduchery in Cauvery issue.
To a question on the MLA disqualification case, the CM replied the Madras high court has adopted different approaches for cases pertaining to MLAs in Tamil Nadu and in his Union Territory. “The High Court had interfered into the order of Puducherry Assembly Speaker while it has now said it cannot interfere into the decision of TN Assembly speaker,” he told reporters at the airport here. The High Court has pronounced different verdicts in similar cases, he added.
