TRS leaders hit back at Uttam Kumar Reddy
Mr Reddy had said that the Minister had allotted land to industries at throwaway prices in exchange for kickbacks.
Hyderabad: TRS leaders on Saturday warned N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, the president of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee, that he would have consequences to face if he continued making baseless allegations about IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao.
Mr Reddy had said that the Minister had allotted land to industries at throwaway prices in exchange for kickbacks.
TRS MLCs Karne Prabhakar, M. Srinivas Reddy and Shambipur Raju, TSIIC chairman Gyadari Balamallu and TRS secretary Gattu Ramachandra Rao held a press conference to address his allegations. They said that Mr Rama Rao, in his personal capacity, could not allot lands; it was the State Government that made allotments on the basis of the state’s industrial policy.
Mr Prabhakar said that Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy was making such baseless allegations because he was unable to approve that the TRS plenary meeting held on Friday had been a success.
“Congress leaders have made several allegations against the Chief Minister and his family in the past four years. They have not been able to prove even a single one of those allegations so far. Instead of feeling ashamed, they continue to make false allegations. We have waited patiently, for four years. We will not tolerate this anymore. They will have to face severe consequences if they continue to make false allegations,” he warned.
The TRS leaders said that the Congress party, during its reign, had allowed companies to loot valuable lands on the outskirts of the city under the guise of setting up special economic zones.
“Congress governments are known for their land scams. There are cases against several ministers and officers for perpetuating irregularities in land allotments, and some of them have even gone to jail. There has not been a single such instance in the TRS government in the past four years,” said Mr Srinivas Reddy.
He said that the TRS government had adopted a transparent land allotment policy; it only gave lands to reputed companies, and that too at market rates.
