Hyderabad: Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) chairman Prof. Kodandaram’s newly-formed political party Telangana Jana Samiti (TJS) will hold its first public meeting in the city on Sunday.

Though the state government repeatedly denied permission for the meeting, Prof. Kodanda-ram has obtained permission at Saroornagar Stadium by approaching the High Court.

Prof. Kodandaram has invited land evacuees of various irrigation projects, victims of Nerella, where Dalit and OBC protesters were brutally beaten for opposing the sand mafia in state minister K.T. Ramarao’s constituency Siricilla, family members of farmers and students who committed suicide for lack of minimum support price and jobs respectively, and families of Telangana martyrs to be seated on the dais.

The professor wants to send the message that these incidents, and the TRS government's failures to address them, have prompted TJAC to set up a political party. He is set to resign from his post as TJAC chairman and will be elected as the first TJS president at the meeting.

Prof. Kodandaram said Opposition parties, including the Congress, have failed to question the “wrongdoings and undemocratic attitude” of the TRS government for four years.

“By setting up TJAC in 2009 and bringing all sections of society together, we created Telangana. We now want to dethrone the TRS government in the same spirit and TJS will be our means to achieve this. KCR says we don’t know politics. Politics will be totally different in this state with the TJS in the picture,” Prof. Kodandaram said.
