Rajnath Singh refuses to meet Congress team
He alleged that the Centre had decided to protect Mr Rao in return for the TRS' support to NDA Presidential election nominee Kovind.
Hyderabad: Citing health reasons, Union home minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday cancelled his appointment to a Congress delegation led by AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh that wanted the Centre to order a CBI probe into the Miyapur land scam.
Following this, Mr Singh alleged that there was a “nexus” between Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central BJP leadership. He said the 4 pm appointment was cancelled at the last moment and their representation was not accepted by any officer in the home ministry.
He alleged that the Centre had decided to protect Mr Rao in return for the TRS’ support to NDA Presidential election nominee Ram Nath Kovind.
The delegation, comprising Mr Singh, TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Leader of the Opposition in Assembly K. Jana Reddy, CPI state secretary Chada Venkata Reddy, among others, signed a petition seeking the CBI probe and released it to the media. The petition alleged that land worth several hundred crores had been sold or encroached upon by highly influential persons.
