Officials to talk on split issues

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and his AP counterpart Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy decided on Friday to divert water from the Godavari river to the Krishna river basin.

During the meeting, Mr Rao gave a presentation on the availability of water, state-wise share and its usage by the riparian states of Maharashtra, Karna-taka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in the Godavari and the Krishna.

After the meeting, TS minister Etala Rajender and AP minister Buggana Rajendranath said that as far as pending issues of bifurcation were concerned, the chief secretaries and officials of departments concerned of both states would meet and find solutions by adopting a give-and-take approach.

The officials of both states will meet on Satu-rday in the presence of the chief secretaries and discuss issues with regard to the common institutions listed under the 9th and 10th schedules of the AP Reorganisation Act 2014 and with regard to arrears pertaining to electricity and civil supplies.

The meeting commenced at Pragathi Bhavan at 11.30 am on Friday. Mr Rao extended a grand welcome to Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy upon the latter’s arrival at about 11.15 am. Both chief ministers made it a point to enter the venue with their right foot.
