VIJAYAWADA: YSR Congress high-command has started efforts to soften YSRC Guntur East MLA Md. Mustafa, who has revolted against the party government due to neglect of development in his constituency. YSRC regional coordinator and Rajya Sabha MP Alla Ayodhyarami Reddy held talks with Mustafa on Wednesday. The MP assured the MLA that tenders will be called for all pending works in the constituency. Mustafa has been elected as MLA from Guntur East seat for two consecutive times. He is dissatisfied with government officials, saying they are neglecting development works in his constituency.

Signs of his revolt were apparent during the two-day meeting of the Guntur Municipal Corporation council on June 23 and June 24. There has been talk that Mustafa could leave YSRC as he is unhappy with the party government. Responding quickly, YSRC high-command deputed Ayodhyarami Reddy to look into the issue. He reached Guntur on Wednesday and interacted with Mustafa and party cadres.

Ayodhyarami Reddy also went on field visits with Mustafa to see for himself why the Guntur East MLA is complaining. Mustafa took the MP to the NTR Stadium in Guntur West constituency, which has been developed with modern amenities. He then brought him to BR Stadium in the Guntur East constituency, which is in a deplorable condition. The MLA wanted the GMC to take over BR Stadium for development.

Mustafa further showed Ayodhyarami Reddy the long-pending construction of the drainage canal in Shahidnagar, which has been neglected due to the Peekalavagu stream. Locals informed the MP that during the rainy season, drainage water enters their houses.

Ayodhyarami Reddy said issues have remained pending for years in Guntur East constituency. Hence, he has held talks with mayor Manohar and MLA Mustafa. He assured that development works will be started soon by calling tenders in Guntur East constituency. Further, basic amenities will be provided as early as possible. The MP maintained that Mustafa has no issues with the party now. The East constituency too will be developed as part of the Guntur City Master Plan. Incidentally, MLA Mustafa has been trying to persuade YSRC to give Guntur East ticket to his daughter Shaik Noori Fatima in the 2024 elections. He has brought the issue to the notice of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. Mustafa has also been promoting his daughter in every political programme, making his intentions clear.
