Hyderabad: Former Union minister P. Chidambaram on Saturday cautioned Congress leaders and cadre about the TRS and said they needed to become even stronger to bring the party to power in 2019.

He set a target to enrol at least 25 families in the party's Shakti App at every booth for better booth management.

Speaking at a meeting with TPCC leaders, Mr Chidambaram said, “There is a little battle in every booth. You have to win every booth. We must have enough people present in all the booths. It is absolutely important to micro-manage every booth.”

He asked the party to use technology and social media to get closer to the people. “Our political rival in Telangana state is strong. We need to be stronger to defeat our rival,” he said.

Mr Chidambaram said, “There are around 2.20 crore voters in the Telangana state. We should ensure at least 10 per cent of them enrol in our Shakti App, which will help us to have effective communication with the voters.”

He asked party workers to widely publicise the Shakti App number, 7996179961.

The Congress accorded statehood to Telangana and fulfilled the decades-old dream of the people, he said. “You should take this issue to the public in a more effective way. You should highlight the failures of TRS government on all fronts in these four years, dashing the hopes of the people, who fought for Telangana state for years.”
